HELLO,  AND  MERRY  CHRISTMAS !!!!

Well.... here we are again.......just happy to say "again"!! I'm sure we're all saying something like that. That's certainly proof of the saying that 'when you're so busy, time flies'! Indeed. Guess we're at the stage where we don't want to talk about where we spent the most time....... appointmenets.....

We're looking forward to a great Christmas with our friends and visiting families. The Toe Tappers have been dancing and doing our Chtistmas shows. Had a few trips to Henderson, NV, to visit friends early in the year. Then Bob needed to take care of a health issue, a very first for someone who has never had a problem. Now we hear how many have A-Fib and now a Pacemaker. Soooo we now continue to keep on kickin'! He continues to be the Tappers MC.

We had a nice surprise visit with friends that were stationed in Italy with us many years ago. We had a surprise birthday party for Bob and both sons, Mike and Craig, were able to be a part of that surprise.

Looking forward to 2024 !!!  Wishing our friends and families a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Safe, New Year.

Much love to you all,

Bob and Marilyn

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR....COM'ON 2023!!

                          Merry Christmas

Our year has been a healthy one and yet being careful, time seems to have gone quickly.  Our year: http://www.halderhappenings.blogspot.com

Since we are still performing for senior communities, Clubs, including some Assisted Living Centers, hasn't left us much time for traveling. I'm looking forward to some of that this coming year!!

Our children and families are doing well and we just welcomed our first Great-grandbaby.!! What??? Yep, Mike's oldest, Kaili and husband, Bryan, just had a baby boy.

Want to mention our friends, Charles and Irene, living in Nampa, Idaho are spreading  the awareness of Veterans with their special hats. As Bob is a reminder of Country, Flag, and Constitution!

To one and all, we're wishing you a beautiful, Blessed Christmas and a healthy, happy, wonderful New Year.

Love,

Marilyn and Bob....... and Mika too

WRAPPING UP THE YEAR

The Toe Tappers, with Bob as MC, finished up the with shows for Memorial Day and Veterans Day........ now getting ready for our Christmas shows.  I had a costume from one of our routines to work for Halloween.

October was the opening of Top Gun - Maverick....... We both got to be in the sidelines of so we had a group go and Marlene wanted to have a party,.... of course .  This was shot back in 2019, and you know why it had been postponed til this year! However, you can only see Bob hat in the funeral scene!! We did get to meet the man !!!! yep, Tom Cruise.

You need to look closely to see the bit of costume.... a fox. On my head the ears, front sparkle vest, paws on hands, and look closely for the tail with the white tip and a bit of orange showing! Don't laugh...... it works for the dance routine we did.

Pat, Marlene, Mick and Diane Barton. Mick did the great job of the interview on the Honor Dr. Bob Day. Bob and Mick have performed together at parties before!!
This is the set up that Marlene did for the Top Gun party. Even with fun writing on the 'Oscars'..... fun party.
No... not the real one but a perfect impersonator......
The man himself in uniform.

JUST STUFF

Since we really didn't do any traveling this year, somehow it was very busy. Marlene's parties, that she loves decorating and the food is her specialty!  Tappers rehearsals twice a week, and the usual happenings. The HOA of our small complex keeps me a bit busy too. I always have to have a project, you know.

Lunch on Coronado, looking back at San Diego across the bay.
This Standard poodle is Merlin and Mika & he, love to visit, plus posing for camera.

Honeysuckle on our bank by our patio. Rain did a good job this season.
Bob loves spreading the Veterans awareness, plus all the wonderful conversations he gets. That's the big Navy emblem on front of his sweater too.

This is my very dear and longest time friend,  Imo. She'll be 90 in a couple monthes !!! Amazing. She is so busy and looks and acts like she's younger than  I am...... and  I'm not telling!!!!!

Marlene's small yard but fully decorated with the lights and her favorite decorations of Flamingos!!!

SPRINGTIME .....

The Toe Tappers are staying in shape..... using patios and garages until all Centers are fully open. Had a show in March. That set a good start. A few of us went to friend, Marlene's, party.  She's the ultimate party planner!!

We had guests on our patio for lunch a couple  times. Friends we hadn't seen for quite some time. the Smith's and the Martin's. Martin's we know from when we lived in Italy. And to answer your question ..... no,we haven't been able to get back to Italy yet.

HERE WE GO INTO 2022 !!!

Why does the time seem to go by so quickly???  When we were younger that's what we always heard. Now I get it.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays......  The first real happening was a special day that was formed by the Board of our church, and was Honor Dr. Bob Day. It was a great story and everyone had a wonderful time and plenty of laughs too. It was loaded with slide photos and a few videos.

Nice to get going with a fresh year and new plans.

CHRISTMAS 2021

                                              MERRY CHRISTMAS

                                    2021

Hi to you all, I don't even know where to begin, cuz it seems like we just had these holidays a short time ago. Firstly, excuse the large print...... that's cuz my eyes are having a problem. they don't like adding up all these years! Nope, glasses only help so much.

Some things stay the same but done differently, if that makes sense. The Tappers found a studio so we could keep on dancing and keeping in shape. Bob does the VA Foundation Board on Zoom. I like Zoom to stay in touch with some and be able to see them.  I use Instacart when I don't feel like going shopping for food, unless I want to find something special. Letting someone else  (and Bob too!) do the usual stuff spoiled me a bit. I used the time to do the scrapbook and photo album catch-up. No travel or trips but will make up for it this next year.
We, like a lot of people, lost friends during this year. We are thankful we had such good friends for so many years. Many wonderful memories and pictures to remind us.
Sons,Mike and Craig came to visit for a couple days. Loved having them here. Each, and their families, are well and busy. Craig's son, Luke, as most of you know, after his accident, and head surgery, is doing great.  He's back at  school and therapy too. Had us really worried for awhile but a strong young 15 year old, and all the prayers helped.

The Tappers had a Christmas gathering at Hope's , our Choreographer, house. this time we let the husbands come too!!!

We want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and look forward to a healthy, happy, New Year. As usual ,we're staying home for New Year, in front of TV, WITH NO MASK!!💕💋😊

A BABY SHOWER PRODUCTION!!! AND BOB MEETS 'TOM CRUIS

One of the Tappers was becoming a first time Grandmother..... so she put on a terrific shower party. Music, entertainment, great food, plenty of gifts..... and the Impersonator: Tom Cruise in the Top Gun setting. Fun for Bob  especially, as he got to meet the real Tom Cruise when we did a very small bit on Top Gun 2...... finally to be out in May of 22, as far as we know.

Bob with the "Tom Cruise"

Then we had another party... Our Toe Tappers had a gathering at Hope's house (our Choreographer). And we invited husbands to come too. Had a fun time.  Don't get to chat like this when we are rehearsing.
I'm the one in blue sweater, second from right...  if you couldn't find me. Bob in the very back...

Cynthia, me, and Linda

THE UNEXPECTED......

We got a call from Craig and Marie that Luke, 15, was hit be a car. Needless to say... shock and upset, to say the least. However, as most of you know, since I reached out to the world for prayers. He was treated quickly for the head injury so the healing has been advancing nicely. He is home and in therapy, both occupational and for memory among other things. Without going into detail, he is doing great. Not playing soccer but he likes going to the game and being the 'assistant' coach.

We got together with our party planner, Marlene, and the 'usual suspects' for a party. Always fun and entertaining, A bit of Halloween.

November, of course, most everyone is looking forward to Thanksgiving. Since family isn't close, we had some neighbors and a friend from out of town, come to a turkey dinner. It was a nice warm day so we had it on the patio. Had a great time and had enough for the next couple days!!

KEEPING BUSY IS HEALTHY.....

A long ago working mate in the Navy made contact and had a fun reunion. It's the nice thing about having time in this situation to reach out to friends you haven't heard from or see for a long time. And Zoom, of course, has made it easy for Bob's Board meetings. I'm seeing friends via Zoom, Skype, FB, and FaceTime. ||There are some good things about the high tech.

We went to see friends in Minden, NV, and to help get ready to move to Racine, WI. They have relatives there.  Hhhmmm wonder how they will like that weather there!!

Very good friend, Rhoda, and husband, Pete, came over  for a visit.

We're glad Mika likes looking at our flag too.

My very long time friend, Imo, celebrating her birthday

HOUSE & DOG SITTING FOR FRIENDS

We went to house sit for our friends, the Halseys for a week. not too far away but a nice outing from home.

Laila (Halsey pet)
Both Mika, and their dog, have fun playing and going on the walks around the neighborhood.

NICE VISIT WITH THE BOYS

WE had a couple nice visits from Mike and Craig, and Grandson, (Craig's son),Luke. Luke was here in San Diego with his soccer team. Yes, got to go see him play. A couple days before that, had a nice lunch on our patio.

Then a couple days with Mike. Terrific.

HERE WE GO INTO 2021...LET'S SEE HOW THIS GOES

As I look at the calendar ,  it doesn't seem very interesting, plus the fact that my eyes are getting a bit worse, so I can't even read my own writing!! The first few months just getting into a routine is busy enough. A good thing is I have two or three of the Tappers here one day a week and we rehearse out on our patio. Different dancing in tennies, or anything other than tap shoes. At least we are getting some exercise in and learning a couple new dances.

The Zoom works for Bob's meetings with the VA Foundation Board. Then the usual appointments here and there.....(we don't like talking about those!!)  Mika to the groomer, then pick up this and that.... and when we don't feel like going out I get online and order via Instacart!

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2020

DEAREST  FAMILY  AND FRIENDS..............AND I DO MEAN 'DEAREST', BECAUSE YOU ARE SO SPECIAL TO US.

I THINK I SAID LAST YEAR WHEN LOOKING FORWARD TO 2020, THAT MY OPHTHALMOLOGIST HUSBAND SAID 2020 IS PERFECT VISION!! SO MUCH FOR THAT. MAYBE HE MEANT IT WOULD BE AN "EYE OPENER" !!! AND THAT'S FOR SURE!!!

THE YEAR HAS BEEN FILLED WITH SO MUCH TURMOIL, I KEEP WONDERING HOW IT WENT BY SO QUICKLY. MOSTLY BECAUSE WE JUST KEPT DOING WHAT WE DO, WITH A FEW ADJUSTMENTS TO MAKE IT WORK.  THE VIRTUAL CHURCH, THANK HEAVEN FOR ZOOM.  MORE OF US HAVE LEARNED  MORE TECH STUFF THAN EVER I IMAGINED. I WON'T DWELL ON WHAT THE NEGATIVES ARE CUZ WE HEAR ENOUGH OF THAT IN OTHER WAYS !!!

WE HAD MANY OF OUR OLD VIDEO CASSETTES PUT ON DVD'S AND IT HAS BEEN REALLY FUN. MUCH OF ITALY AND LOOKS LIKE A TRAVELOGE. AND SAW SOME WHEN WE WERE VERY YOUNG AND MANY OF THE NAVY THINGS AND PLACES.

WE MISS DOING OUR TO TAPPER SHOWS, AND GETTING TOGETHER. WE HAVE KEPT UP OUR REHEARSALS BUT SEPARATELY IN THREE DIFFERENT GROUPS TO KEEP SEPARATION. ONE PLACE IS OUR PATIO.... NOT EASY TO DANCE ON CEMENT BUT WE JUST 'SORT OF' DANCE. KEEPS US EXERCISING.

WE DID DTAKE ONE TRIP UP TO MINDEN, NEVADA FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS. A NICE DRIVE AND SCENERY WAS BEAUTIFUL. THANKSGIVING AT IMO'S AND NOW WE'LL GO TO OUR FRIENDS, THE HALSEY'S, (OUR OTHER EXTENDED FAMILY) AS WE DO EVERY YEAR, TO CELEBRATE AND ENJOY CHRISTMAS DAY. CHILDREN ARE ON EAST COAST AND NORTH WEST. NOT EASY TO GET TOGETHER.

WE'LL BE THINKING OF YOU ALL AND PRAYING FOR ALL TO STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY. LET'S LOOK FORWARD TO  HAPPIEER DAYS AHEAD WITH LOVE AND HAPPINESS.

WITH MUCH LOVE,

MARILYN AND BOB ...... and Mika too

HERE COME THE HOLIDAYS ----THANKSGIVING

Wanted to be with another  part of my extended family for Thanksgiving. We ordered a full Thanksgiving dinner, cooked turkey and all the trimmings, just heat and eat!! We went to be with Imo, Sheri and Rusty Sharman. My Mother started this relationship  many years ago, so no matter where in the world we are, we are close!

Fun about this is they already had the Christmas tree up so we could take pictures... and you know I love to do that!!

                                                Us with Imo

Sheri, brother, Rusty, and Mom Imo

And a lovely turkey dinner and a beautiful day.
