Ara Pacis (Peace Altar)
Gonfolone Oratorio

Two main places we went this time in Rome, was to the Gonfalone Oratorio from the 1400's, and the Ara Pacis (Peace Altar), from 10 BC (2018 years ago!!)It was excavated in the late 1800's. It's a pretty good size building for an alter. You can walk inside and around the alter. About a 20 x 40 foot building. All the scenes were found under a villa and in tact. This is one of my brother, Gene's favorite places. The discolored steps and a few other pieces are original and the lighter marble is added to complete the original building. The Gonfalone Oratorio is where we go to see the Chamber music festival with Bob McDuffie, the violinist.

Hey Marilyn, it's Chris (and Jacky). Just got word from Gene about your new mailbox in Naples -- long walk to pick up the mail! Maybe you have a better address. Please send to discoco@redshift.com.
Nice to see all the pics. Suggestion: put up a "Genezone" with a few more pics of him and his happenings. Love you guys and miss you guys! -Chris
